- It goes without saying that it was unfortunate that it went this far
- I think Richie lasted this long in this league because he fills a quota in the NFL….the tough guy with an edge. He’s the player you want on your team because he annoys the defense but if you play against him, you want him thrown out of the league…Sort of like Rodman late in his career…
- Richie hadn’t faced opposition that he couldn’t overcome with his physical strength or the strength of his personality. And if he ever did face any type of opposition (college dismissals, free agency), he just made a detour or took a shortcut in a different direction..
- People wonder why Jonathan Martin never just knocked Richie out considering his size and weight…that’s the wrong way of thinking..that’s like asking why a 6ft+ tall black person doesn’t play basketball. Just because you expect a person of that size and weight to do it, doesn’t mean he’s built like that…..
- Richie had the mental edge on Jonathan and once you have that, it’s over…it’s been proven on so many levels across so many centuries…
- I don’t think Richie’s threats on Martin’s life were real in the sense that he was coming after him on some vendetta shit…I think he was making threats in his warped way that we as the general public wouldn’t necessary understand….
- I think the parallels between football and the military are becoming more evident after every incident inside a locker room….the levels to which things end up, how far boundaries are pushed, the way that everybody toes the “company” line, the way that players protect other players even if something egregious has come to pass….amazing..
- After scanning the Miami roster, there was no one there capable of putting Incognito in his proverbial place..This is a very young team…..Some players had longer tenure in the league but they didn’t have it on that team. He was the 2nd longest tenured OL on that team…. No one had the star power and/or a person with as loud a mouth and an edge like his…
- If you look @ Jonathan Martin…he looks like a person who would be susceptible to bullying…not saying that’s right/wrong…but he looks like he’s been teased before and football was his way of feeling accepted…
- If you look @ Richie Incognito, he looks like a person who enjoys the football lifestyle and is charismatic enough to have a following. So if he decided to pull a prank on someone and you genuinely liked him as a person, I think you’d follow along with him….Please don’t tell me you never in your life did the bidding of somebody who didn’t have good intentions…
- I don’t think Richie is a bad person.
- I agree with Herman Edwards when he talked about how the coach has his feelers out there in the locker room and that the coach didn’t put a stop to this…My gut tells me he just didn’t think it was that big a deal.
- I think Cris Carter was right in saying that Jonathan Martin didn’t go to the coach with this because he didn’t trust him..The coach was not an ally in this situation.
- Richie Incognito will not play for the Dolphins for the rest of the season and will have a tough time finding employment in the NFL for the foreseeable future. He’s got the talent and the edge that NFL talent scouts love but the stigma behind this scandal will follow him for the rest of his life. Doesn’t matter if you made a Pro Bowl …if the “word” around the league is that you’d fracture a locker room? NO ONE will sign you without extensive PR rehab….the sitdowns on all the sports channels showing how much you’ve changed, public apologies, the whole deal…America finds a way to forgive even if the apologies are hollow..
- I think Jonathan Martin will come back to play football next season, as earlier reported by a Miami beat writer….but I wonder how long he’ll be in the league after his rookie contract runs out. There can be a negative to this for him as well. If other organizations don’t feel comfortable with him being on the roster because the private side of things might become public, he, too, might not be able to have a long career as an offensive lineman in this league…
- If people don’t believe that the society we live in is based mostly on what we dealt with in school from kindergarten to senior year in HS. you are sadly mistaken…
- The idea that a rookie could go broke paying for veterans is out of control. You literally spent your entire paycheck because your co-workers told you to spend it? Damn, homie…Financing trips to the strip club? Playing the role of ATM? That’s nuts to me…
- With news coming out that the coaches unofficially sent Incognito to “toughen” up Martin after he missed some OTA’s, it tells me the workplace environment was set up for this to happen to a player like Jonathan Martin. The team saw Martin as a capable player with solid measurables and the ability to play offensive line but they were not thrilled with his lack of an edge when playing …Incognito was there to do what he could to develop that edge in his own special way. And they (Philbin and co..) hoped it’d work…alas, it did not. And now the Dolphins have a PR nightmare and could cost a lot of people their jobs…
guess who…ol Richie Incog!
Oh, the irony!
Clean hit
but what a hit it was!!
