Got to love all the offense in the league this week. Numbers, numbers, numbers. Quarterbacks pitching it all over the lot, running backs scampering all over the field, and wide receivers loading up on the highlight reel catches.
(Look @ the Eagles playing like the Washington Generals out there…You call that tackling?)
I don’t know what it is about the defenses this year but we can thank the lockout for providing us with large amounts of fantasy goodness. Not so much so for our team defenses but hey, who’s looking for 20 points out of them, right…….Am I right?
Enough with the pleasantries… Onto the recaps!
I know I usually start off the recap with the biggest beating of the weak, but considering the biggest margin of victory was 28 points….I thought about it but thought I’d nix the idea for this week. The circumstances didn’t call for it. The winning team scores over 190 and he “lost” with over 160? No way I can crush the guy over 160! Yeah I know, I know….Disappointment reigns supreme.
Cheer up folks!
The N.E. Heartbreak Award of the week (brought to you by Ralph Tresvant’s hi–top fade, synchronized dance steps and Bell’s ripped wifebeater) goes to…
Sigma Champs…..And this one has to burn considering the circumstances. Once again, this looked like an on paper whitewash. Yes, the projected numerals said it’d be a 9 point game but veterans of this league know to look at projections and scoff..
The 4:15 games end and Butter?’s team is done for the night with a 124. Nothing spectacular but hey, what can you do? Sigma’s got Reggie Wayne and Jason Witten to go. All assumptions are that 21 points from these 2 target hogs….Sigma’s got the victory hands down.
So Sunday night’s game comes along. Goodell must’ve made a few calls and got the Colts to compete defensively. Big Ben looked like more like a medium and that PIT offensive line had more breakdowns than a psych ward. However, the Colts offense, led by the elder statesman, Kerry Collins, was TERRIBLE. I didn’t even watch too much of the game but reading the boxscore, I saw the numbers. Less than 100 yards passing? That’s not even close to NFL production. And the receivers suffered because of it. Reggie ends up with a 5.
this photo covers Wayne, Kerry Collins and the entire Sunday night game situation...
So the Monday night game comes on. Tirico, Gruden and Jaworski are chattering away like monkeys fighting over one banana and the stage is set for Witten to make his money. Romo’s receivers are all hurt and/or inexperienced. The running backs outside of Felix Jones? Mediocre to below average…So you figure Witten is getting a heavy dose of passes coming his way. But of course, the Redskins got that memo too and draped themselves over him like a tablecloth….He had a good fantasy day with 6 catches and 60 yards but you expect a TD in a matchup like this one and he just didn’t come through with one.
Other disappointments include Matt Ryan’s 19 and Hakeem Nicks’s 5 points against that JV tertiary of the Eagles (because that’s not a secondary AT ALL – see above video clip). Brandon LaFell’s zero happened because apparently they transported the game to the Phillipines during monsoon season. But the biggest letdown of them all is the fallout from the Gates trade. That bad wheel is hamstringing your team and it will make or break your fantasy future…
This matchup’s result is definitely the perfect place to debut LarryMerchantFace
"So you're saying he STARTED Early Doucet and you still lost?"
So……….. onto the next award
The Fairest of Them All (aka Those who were the best this week)

K: YES, A KICKER! Dan Bailey with 21 points….Dispute that all you want. 21 points is something a lot of us all wanted…
The Missed Opportunity Award…(to the one player on each losing team that had helpful points on the bench)
Your commissioner and humble servant, Supa Hot Fire: If I played Hightower and Jones instead of Tolbert and Best, I win. I played the matchups correctly so whatever…..
LXG: Brandon Pettigrew’s 22 and Brandon Jacobs’s 15 could’ve done you wonders.
On 3..Ready Break, Gr8est Show on Turf: Nothing could’ve saved you from that L. Nothing.
Sigma Champs: Lance Moore and Sidney Rice’s production would’ve led you to victory. I can see why you’d wait on Sidney but Lance could’ve played over LaFell…definitely..
Before I end this post, I’d like to give the Dawg Pound Warriors the LIKE A BOSS award. Kudos for one hell of a week. 191 is nothing to sneeze at. Welker’s 50 paced your squad and your production across the board was admirable. What’s funny is you could’ve had over 200 but you were playing the matchups and I can why you left those particular players on the bench. Enjoy your big time point total. It’ll be of big use to you down the road if things get tight, record-wise that is…
And with that, we reach the end of another blog post, full of wit, mirth and humorous tidbits. Let’s keep the competition fierce, the waiver wire pickups plentiful and the trade offers fair and equal, unless someone out there offers you a beaut that you just can’t pass up!
We approach the start of bye week season, so that can only mean one thing: TEAM RANKINGS!!! Yeah, they’ll be making a triumphant return…coming in three shifts (that’s what she said….) 1st one comes after week 4. The 2nd one arrives after the bye weeks and the final one comes right before the playoffs. (also what she said…am i right, fellas? heh…heh…)
This is usually the space where I get to give a subtle jab to my opponent who I defeated but since I relied on the arm and quarterbacking skills of REX GROSSMAN to get me over the hump, I ended up losing. Shoulda seen that coming a mile away….Ugh. How can Sexy Rexy be so bad on a big stage?
"How was I supposed to know somebody would be coming from the backside?"
So let me give Kudos to Brady’s Golden Locks. I still got that top spot but going 2-1 is good and dropping 160 helps the old total points so let me dig into my folder of pics and see what I can locate for the occasion…
Until next week, folks!
