Hey there GM’s!
Draft day has come and gone and we have our players that we’ll start confidently, risk sitting due to a bad matchup, trade for an upgrade, bench due to bye weeks or just drop in disgust because they scored 3 points when they had a tasty matchup….
We had some good value picks, plenty of reaches and some interesting choices made by all.
And for the first time in league history we got draft grades mere minutes right after draft!
Those things were as accurate as a sniper with glaucoma, cataracts, and astigmatisms in both eyes. Plus they were based on some sketchy information to begin with…
Let’s get that human element….that human perspective back in this here game, am I right?
Let’s go in draft order, shall we?
Pretty good job from the leadoff position. Snagging Brees was a no-brainer. Pairing him with Graham will lead to headaches for your opponents. A nice mix of rookies, young talent and veterans. You’re not relying on one group too heavily but if they all come together, you will be trouble over the course of the season…
Only 3RB’s on the roster signify you’re probably going 5 wide most of the season. The RBs you have don’t have the best track record @ the goal line and Forte is known to get nicked up so you’ve got to hope he stays upright the entire season. We’ll see how it goes…
Overall, I can’t hate too much on this team Other than the fact that you took most of the people on my list…(some would say that’s a good thing!)
On 3…Ready Break
Those first six picks were GOLD. A.J. Green in the 3rd round of any draft is highway robbery. Shoring up the RB’s and WR’s that early had your team looking like world-beaters…and if Russell “Don’t Call Me Charlie” Wilson plays like he did towards the end of last season, there might be some problems for everybody in this league…
But the rest of your draft?
I can see why you made some of the moves you made. Cutler’s got some buzz. Sanu did some things last year, Rodgers and Pierce are decent handcuffs…but I think there was more talent out there that you passed on to get the guys you got. I could be wrong but that’s just how I feel about how your draft went…
You’ve got some good pieces so to me, your team is ok…
The Other Guys
HE FINALLY GETS HIS QUARTERBACK THAT HE’S BEEN SEARCHING FOR FOR YEARS!!!
But of course, the year you get your bonafide QB is also the year you take the most fliers on the rest of your roster!!!
Yahoo Sports and Automated Insights must be on them bath salts, Molly and Salvia…. Gronkowski, Mathews, McFadden, Ball, Jennings, Denarius Moore and Justin Blackmon are all dice rolls and even the players you consider locks for production are all sketchier this season than they have been in years past….
It’s going to take some prayer to a celestial deity, some Grade A management skills and some waiver wire magic to make this all work for you this year…Draft day projected 12-2?
I see you’ve moved from your main man the past couple years back to your first true love: Thomas Edward Patrick Brady
Considering Tom Terrific’s preseason, I am a little shocked he got to you in the 2nd round. You were able to secure 2 good RBs in the first 3 rounds and bolstered your receiving corps from rounds 4-9, tying yourself into some high powered offenses in the process. Kudos go out to you there. Houston’s D @ 10 was a good snag as well. Luck in the 11th as your backup is highway robbery. Expect some inbox queries to come your way for that man…
Other than the lack of sex appeal concerning your WR’s as a whole, I think this team is a solid one. I think it can put up points in a hurry with the all-purpose backs and the big play elements of a lot of the wide receivers. Lord help this league if this season’s version of Brady is like the 2007 one….*shudders*…(although if he is, I got some people on my squad he can throw to…)
I smell a good year and a team name change for EasyBreesy
I admit I was shocked when Killa went 1st but then again, should I really have been? This pick fits him like those Isotoners fit Orenthal (allegedly)….
Definitely a good start to your team. The first 7 picks all have a chance to produce major points @ their prospective positions. DeAngelo Williams is good depth and the Denver defense (prior to all those damn injuries/suspensions) also was a good pick…
I also think a lot of the picks after round 6 were reaches and some of the talent could’ve been acquired later on, providing this team with even more talent than it has currently. Heath Miller is nowhere close to being ready to play the field, Jacoby Jones couldn’t pass his physical even with an offseason full of foxtrots, pasa dobles and other Latin dances, and I know for certain Denard and Mikel will be off the team in a BLINK of an eye…
But I also know that anything I say will be handled like anything said to the Fantastic Mr. Fox
To quote MC Hammer
They do what they wanna do, say what they wanna say / live how they wanna live, play how they wanna play
I expect nothing more than a hard fought season nonetheless…wheeling, dealing, trading and fading, scooping up waiver wire players and I also expect you to be the 1st to trade a draft pick….That’s just a hunch…
If nothing else, let’s all bask in the glow that is Killa Cam!
Our first of 3 managers to keep a player this season…and you kept Doug Martin. Understandably so. Pairing him up with Shady McCoy gives you a formidable 1-2 punch in the backfield… I like your Ryan-Roddy combo pack as well. Matty Ice was solid (no pun intended) for me last year and I expect he’ll keep the ball in the air with the offensive personality of that team down there in ATL…. You lost Brady due to league rules but restocked the cabinets and have ample talent up and down the roster….
I hate to say this but I’m cool with this team and I think it can contend, as currently constructed
Looking @ your squad, I don’t see too many holes and I can’t really lodge too many complaints… I feel like I’m nitpicking here TBH… Three TE’s is one too many, 2 DEF’s is a personal choice…..but that’s really all there is to my team review…
Once again, a very good draft for you. I saw that you kept your favorite team bias to a minimum and drafted nothing but talent. Even fliers like Murray in the 7th, Bradshaw in the 11th and Ben Tate in the 16th work out well because your team isn’t relying on them exclusively to handle any major load. They’re backups @ the moment and if they end up producing, then that’s frosting on the cake….It’ll be interesting what direction you go in once Josh comes back from suspension..
Kudos man. Your team’s swag is on a million
I wanted to like this team. I really did.
I can give you kudos for your first 4 picks because they’ll definitely do some damage over the course of the season. Keeping Peterson, off of the season he just had, made all the sense in the world, considering where you were drafting. Morris was 2nd in the league in rushing yards last season. Andre Johnson and Marques Colston are perennial performers…
But after that, I see a lot of mediocrity. A lot. Milquetoast players filling up backup roles…
And those two defenses back to back?
(TRUST ME. I HAD MORE! I couldn’t put the entire folder of pictures on the topic in here…I’d be here all damn night and day)
You will get no disagreement from me on the idea that Seattle and San Fran are considered two of the top 5 defenses in this league. Not even a discussion. Harbaugh and Carroll have beastly squads out on the West Coast and the NFC should be shaking in its boots at the thought of facing them.
I also understand that defenses have been known to score a ton of points (see Chicago, Seattle and others from last season)…They were able to produce like position players in some weeks…
But in this league, you can only start one defense. ONE.
And the rounds you picked both defenses are prime rounds to stock up talent.
Especially QB talent.
Some of the names you passed on from the QB ranks: RG3, Matthew Stafford, Tony Romo, Jay Cutler, Andrew Luck, Michael Vick, Ben Roethlisberger, Andy Dalton, Joe Flacco…(LOL @ Flacco, btw…even I know he’s overrated)
But for a team that has to choose between Sam Bradford, Matt Schaub and Carson Palmer on a weekly basis (right now), choosing to corner the market on defenses that early could cost you down the road. You’re choosing to potentially stream QBs instead of defenses and
I think Yahoo was being kind in giving you a C. I don’t think they wanted to hurt your feelings too bad and they were giving you kudos for your 1st four picks and the strength of the defenses you loaded up on…
Also next time if your son has any suggestions on who to take, kindly tell him to shut his milktrap and disregard wherever his little fingers are pointing in relation to your draft board….
to be determined
All other managers can bow down now and weep. My team is beastly and will likely terrorize the dreams of most of you. You lay your head on your pillow, close your eyes for a bit….maybe listening to the calming sounds of the ocean or the soft hum of the fan in the room and then BAM!!!!…
The horror! Points being scored. Catches. Touchdowns. Yards. 50 yard field goals on the regular. 30 point games from my defense….You’ll have no choice but to rise from your beds, pace the floor nervously and nibble on your cuticles, just hoping my team doesn’t mop the floor with your team and embarass you…
My team has talent. I’ve got speed, receptions, yards and some more speed. I’m tied to a lot of good offenses and I scooped up some talent that fell through the cracks. I’ve got RB talent coming out of my pores right now. If all of my question marks turn out to be winners, I’m looking golden during the season.
But then again, I do have question marks. Are my guys going to stay healthy? Can Mike Vick turn Chip Kelly’s offense into a fantasy gold mine? Will Jordy Nelson make his way back from surgery? Is this the year that Jared Cook FINALLY breaks out? Only time will tell.
Mash Out Posse
Billy Danze and Lil Fame….the original back street boys… I bet you’ve got high hopes for your squad this season…considering what you were able to do last season…but I’ve got a song from your catalog that’ll accurately express my feelings about your boys
Calvin made all the sense in the world as your keeper, Marshawn Lynch is a steady, dependable force in the backfield (even if they play for a rival) and I do not doubt that Kaepernick will get you points with his legs and his Howitzer of an arm….but…
Outside of that Arizona defense and Chris Givens (who you snatched from my grasp @ least 2 rounds earlier than I expected… SMH) I don’t see the production coming @ a steady clip like last year. You need a lot of lottery tickets to come through for you and you need a few guys known for spotty production to become a lot more consistent, whether that be staying healthy or whether that be become more involved in the offense.
And with that last .gif, we have come to the end of another BTFL draft breakdown. I know there may be some disagreement with my views on their team…you may feel some type of way (shout out to Rich Homie Quan)
and that is TOTALLY FINE. You’re entitled to your opinion.
and I’m gone
