The San Fran Niners are 5-2 in the NFC West right now, leading a tough division of teams. They’ve got a very good defense, a good offensive line, a stable of running backs and receivers who are all healthy at the moment and they have a coach who is strong minded and won’t let them develop bad habits or fall into some sort of funk….
So with ALL that on record, is Alex Smith the answer @ QB?
I think he’s a good player and fits what they do very very well but I don’t think when you compare him to the upper echelon of the league like Rodgers, Brees, Ryan, etc…that he stacks up. This league is too good to have a Trent Dilfer type of game manager get you through the playoffs and all the way to the Super Bowl anymore. You need your QB to make some throws and show some resolve on the biggest stages and if he can’t lead this team to beat the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3, what playoff team can he really lead his offense against and you can sit there and think to yourself, ” You know what? Alex Smith is the reason why I think the 49ers got this game!!”
Like I said, good player. Definitely a starter in the league. Jacksonville would LOVE to have him…but on a team like the 49ers, he has to develop a little bit more of end up getting shipped outta town
