Good day to all competitors in the league. I hope all is well for everyone…
This week was an interesting one. You’ve got coaches fighting, Cowboys laying down to teams they should beat, Rex Grossman returning to form, Donovan McNabb getting benched AGAIN and you’ve got ties that turn into wins during the week….but I’ll expand on that last point a little bit later on in the proceedings…
That prayer that was asked for last week? Didn’t take. So we need to bring in the big guns this time…
Onto the Week 6 recap!
Once again, the largest margin of victory was only 28 points…..So there is no section dedicated to someone getting their butts beat..I know I know…it’s a bummer. But I can’t write what’s not there. Maybe next week?
The Lee Corso Award (for assuming one outcome when another one comes along)
goes to…Sigma Champs…You and I battled and scraped to a tied score of 144 points. I could barely function during the early part of the day knowing Felix Jones got sidelined by a high ankle sprain and I didn’t have enough of a lead going into the Sunday night game. Where you had Adrian Peterson going. My Cincinnati D scored late in their game, Earnest Graham bulled his way to over 100 yards on the ground late in the Saints/Bucs game and the scream I let out when Hernandez scored that last second TD? Could’ve woken the dead.
So I get settled to watch the Vikes/Bears game and it’s a sight to behold. Peterson has no running lanes and the Bears LB’s are SWARMING.
And I couldn’t be happier. Halftime comes and goes. The Bears are up big and I’m watching them play a little softer in defense and I get violently ill. I was up 10 points at most and next thing you know, after a short TD where he goes into the end zone untouched, I’m up 1 and I’m already dreading the effort it’d take to write in myself as a heartbreaker of the week…Christian Ponder tosses him a simple flare out pass. For zero yards. But that point ties it all up. And I am not happy @ all. Because AP’s day is done for the day after that and they didn’t even need to throw him that pass. It’s as if the league was conspiring against me!
So the Lee Corso comes into play Wednesday night into Thursday. I’m looking @ my team as I always do, analyzing matchups, looking to the future and I see a little link above my team that says.
“A stat correction was applied Aaron Rodgers on Monday Oct 17…”
I follow the link and it says I’ve gained 1 completion for 6 yards.
And I proceed to dance.
So what was once a situation where you and I were 4th and 5th in the standings with the 3-2-1 record.
becomes a situation where I’m in 3rd with a 4-2 record and you’ve slid to 6th with a 3-3 record. Very tough couple of days for you, I must imagine. Aaron has put the team on his back since day one but seeing one outcome turn into a worse one can not feel good @ all.. That head-to-head record’s getting a little closer now, huh?
So onto the top performers for the week…

If the numbers look a little lower to you, it’s because they are lower. Highest score was 149. Compared to some of the earlier weeks…this was a dry spell! Bye weeks do that to teams. Points get harder to come by and making sure you max out that starting lineup is key. The points end up mattering in the end. Especially since all the teams 1 through 8 are all still jockeying for position. 9th and 10th place isn’t technically out of it, but we all need to see a run of runs out of them.
For my week 6 opponent, I got back on the horn with the First Family…(no, not M.O.P.) and spoke to Michelle Obama for a bit. Checked in on her and the kids. The dog. Domestic and foreign policy. #OccupyWallStreet. The whole spiel. So after the pleasant small talk, I told her I needed a photo for this week and she said she was all out of bulletin board material. But she did find one photo of Barack that I could use. I thanked her profusely, downloaded the photo and here I present it to you.
And with that, we reach the end of another blog post, full of wit, mirth and humorous tidbits. Let’s keep the competition fierce, the waiver wire pickups plentiful and the trade offers fair and equal, unless someone out there offers you a beaut that you just can’t pass up!
Until next week, folks!
